The occasion was chaired by Chief (Dr.) Victor Alewo Adoji, while Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma served as the lady chairperson.
In her speech, Hajia Baiwa said no meaningful growth and development can come to a community where there is no peace, love and harmony.
She stressed further that the ‘pull down syndrome’ that has been the attitude of our people should be vehemently frowned at.
She said that she is proud to be a daughter of Dekina LGA, but feel bad to know that Dekina town is backward in
terms of development. She admonished the good people of Dekina LGA to imbibe the attitude of patience to attract government interest that will aid the speedy and sustainable growth and development of Dekina community.
She expressed her immense appreciation on the good work of Honourable Kabiru Idris, the Chief Administrator of Dekina LGA and urged him to do more.
In his address, Kabiru Idris expressed his disappointment on the unpatriotic attitude of Dekina indigenes saying that the Pull-Him-Down attitude of most of their people is the key reason for the slow pace of development of Dekina town. He said all hands must be on deck to move Dekina town forward.
The chairman of the occasion, Chief Adoji, thanked the good people of Dekina LGA for the honour bestowed on him and said he is indebted to the community for the gift of a wife given to him. He donated N10million to the ‘Dekina House Project’
The governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was represented by the Chief Administrator of Ofu LGA, Honourable Abuh Egbiti, expressed joy for being in Dekina to celebrate with his friends and colleague. He said he will get across to the governor to harness his support for Dekina community.
The Eje of Dekina, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Obaje OON, used the medium to call on Governor Bello to complete the dualization of the Dekina township road as well as resolving the water problem bedeviling the community.
