A lawyer, Barr. Julius Elukpo, has dragged TEC Engineering Company to Federal High Court in Lokoja for abandoning the Shintaku-Dekina-Anyigba road rehabilitation project site.

Shintaku-Dekina-Anyigba road rehabilitation was awarded by the Federal Government in February 2022 to TEC Engineering Company.

Respondents in the suit are the Minister of Works, Attorney General of the Federation, Kogi State Federal Comptroller of Works, TEC Engineering Company, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Attorney General of Kogi State.

Chief Elukpo said the State Government was joined into the matter for shying away from its responsibility of monitoring federal projects in the state.

The elder statesman noted that he filed the suit in the interest of the people of Kogi State, who are suppose to beneficiaries of the project.

Chief Elukpo had told the Court that the TEC Engineering Company had written to him, seeking withdrawal of the case.

Counsel to Governor Ododo and the State Attorney General, Habib Abbas informed the Court that the State cannot force the Federal Government to provide funds for the project.

On his part, counsel to the Federal Government, Barrister Ori Owan commended Chief Elukpo for taking up the matter as it is of public interest.

After the lawyers requested for more time to resolve the matter, the Presiding Judge, Justice Isa Dashen, who lamented the bad state of federal roads in the state adjourned the case till June 26.
