Lawi Seeks Unity at Ebira Carnival Grand Finale

The lawmaker representing Okene l State constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed, has called on Ebirans to be united in other to help Ebiraland win back her rightful position in the world.

Speaking at the Grand Finale of Ebira Carnival on Monday, 31st December 2018, Hon. Lawi said that this year’s celebration marks the 8th anniversary of the carnival.

The lawmaker, who disclosed that the theme of the 2018 Carnival is ‘Ebira Unity’, described the carnival as `the largest street party in Kogi State.’

He said that the time has come for Ebirans to show unity among themselves and the commitment to be respected by other ethnic and tribes of the world.

The carnival, according to him, has over the years promoted talent and creativity, while at the same time uniting the people of Ebira and Kogi State in general.

“Today, we have flagged off the 8th annual Carnival in Ebiraland, the largest street party ever; the greatest show in Kogi State.

“So much has been done to showcase what Ebiraland is all about. The time has come for Ebira people to be of age where the black man is seen as a symbol of integrity.

“If Kogites can get themselves together and shun fraud, drug abuse, cultism and other forms of heinous crimes and vices, we will win back our position and compete favourably with other colours in the world.

“All we need to do is to change our attitude and believe in ourselves. We hope that the bands will take time to espouse the theme and tell the story of Ebiraland and the need to respect our great land,’’ he said.
