The land matter between the Iyamoye and Ekinrin-Adde Communities in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, which has been a subject of litigation since 1976, and finally decided by the Supreme Court in 1996, was given a serious attention by His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State today the 11th April, 2025 at the Governor’s Office, Lokoja marking a historic steps towards amicable resolution of the aged long matter.
This well articulated peace meeting at the instance of the Governor, facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim (DSTV) could lay to rest the dispute over the ownership of the land, paving ways for the establishment of the proposed Federal University of Entrepreneurship and Business Management in Ijumu land.
The Governor of Kogi State showcased exceptional humility, wisdom and leadership by hosting a peace meeting between Iyamoye and Ekinrin-Adde Communities. This bold move by His Excellency has brought a glimmer of hope to the long-warring Communities, paving the way for a brighter future for development.
The gathering, which was attended by Government functionaries, Monarchs, and Stakeholders, was aimed to resolve the long-standing land ownership disputes that have plagued the Communities for years. The meeting provided a platform for both parties to air their grievances and work towards a mutually beneficial solution.
A Commitment to Peace: A Promise to the People
The Governor urged both parties to embrace peace, promising to look at the lacuna with respect to the Supreme Court judgement personally and get back to Stakeholders at another round of peaceful engagement that will signaled a lasting resolution mechanism that would stand the test of time. This commitment to peace is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to the well-being and prosperity of the people.
By allowing both Communities to express their grievances, the Governor demonstrated his commitment to finding a solution that benefits the Communities, Ijumu, Okun, and Kogi State in general. This inclusive approach of His Excellency has fostered a sense of cooperation and unity among the people.
The University’s Establishment
The Governor highlighted the potential benefits of the University’s establishment in Ijumu, including development and progress the establishment would attract for the people. This landmark project of the the President Tinubu administration is expected to bring numerous opportunities for education, economic growth, and social advancement. He emphasized several efforts put in place to be able to attract this institution, acknowledging the fact that Ijumu people are endowed with both natural and human resources.
Appreciation and Gratitude: A Message of Unity
The Governor thanked the delegations and traditional institutions for embracing peace through out the period of dispute, promising to facilitate objective approach to resolving the matter in line with the Supreme Court judgement. This gesture of appreciation and promises by His Excellency would reinforced the bonds of unity and cooperation between the Communities.
He thanked Rt. Honourable Faleke Abiodun for facilitating this monumental institution and wish him well in his legislative endeavours.

Iyamoye Development Union (IDU) wishes to commend the Governor’s timely intervention and wisdom in handling the situation. His leadership has been instrumental in bringing peace and stability to the Communities. Similarly, the Union thanked His Excellency for the promises made on our requests and pray fervently that Almighty Allah will grant him all his needs; sound health, vigour and more wisdom to paddle the canoe of the state to an enviable height.
The facilitation of a Modern Primary Health Care and introduction of free Medical Care in Iyamoye is commendable and appreciated by the good people of Iyamoye Kingdom.

We also appreciate the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government for initiating the process that led to the peace resolution meeting. His efforts have been crucial in promoting peace and understanding among the communities. Alhaji Haruna Ibrahim is indeed an epitome of peace, love and unity.
We equally appreciate sons and daughters of Iyamoye community, most especially the Traditional Council, Tegba Stakeholders and youths of the Community for their unalloyed supports towards a peacful resolution
IDU will continue to facilitate necessary supports towards the achievement of the construction of the University, as we equally await His Excellency’s promise of a peaceful resolution of the issues under contention.
