If the Supreme Court judgment on Local Government Autonomy needs to see the light of day, who will be at the helm of the Local Government Election? If money meant for the local government goes directly to the Local Government, who will constitute the Electoral body for the Local Government Election and fund them to conduct the election? Why the Supreme Court silent on Local Government Elections? Who will address this question, the Federal or State Government?
The Supreme Court needs to clear the way of conducting the Local Government Election in Nigeria; if not, all State governors will automatically become godfathers in their state, controlling the Local Government Chairmen. We all know the power of political godfathers.
The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, is not yet done unless the issues of Local Government Elections are addressed in the Supreme Court again.
Anyway, congratulations to all of us at the grassroots; this is a first step towards progress in Nigeria.
