Chairman, United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC), Kogi State Council, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo has decried the deteriorated state of Ajaokuta-Itobe road.
In a statement issued on Friday, Opaluwa appealed to Kogi State government to rehabilitate the road due to its strategic location in the state and country.
The Labour leader described the road, in its present state, as a death trap.
“In view of the completely dilapidated state of Ajaokuta-Itobe portion of Ajaokuta-Okene road and its strategic location to Kogi state and the entire country, I appeal to the state government to fix that portion of the road to alleviate the suffering of motorists and commuters plying the route to their respective location. This has become more important now that we have entered the yuletide season.
“The dust on that road in this dry season is capable of sending an asthmatic patient to the great beyond within minutes. The portion of the road can best be described as a death- trap. It is my wish and prayer that this request is treated with uttermost urgency,” he said.
