A fuel-less power generator fabricated by 20 students of the Physics Department of Kogi State University was the “beautiful bride” at the Kogi special day at the ongoing Abuja International Trade Fair at the Lt. J.T Useni complex in Abuja.

Governor of Kogi State Captain Idris Wada who was represented by Ali Ajuh, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and some other delegates at the state pavilion could not hide their admiration for the leaders of the students invention team, Momoh Jumai Oiza and Ezekiel Samson, who were supported by the Kogi Chambers of Commerce and Industry to showcase their invention.

The students displayed a 1000 watts  generator powered by a battery that could run for seven hours without a single drop of petrol.

According to the team, “we were driven to undertake this invention because of the number of deaths recorded as a result of generator explosions and the environmental pollution from the emission from generating sets.

The product referred to as  “ket” was inspired by Dr John Alabi the Chairman of Kogi State Chamber of Commerce and Industry who is also the lecturer that took the inventors in a course known as Entrepreneurship at the university where he compelled them to come up with an invention that would benefit society.

Kogi State which  last participated in an international fair in 1999, used the special day to showcase its vast mineral and agricultural endowments.

The governor also said that the state has taken steps to establish free trade zone which will be accessed by rail, road and water transportation in addition to communication and power facilities in a bid to encourage local and foreign investors.
