Kogi State University, Kabba, will on Tuesday, January 16, matriculate about 1,200 students.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kehinde Imisi Eniola, made this known during the matriculation press conference in Kabba on Monday.
He reiterated the vision to make Kogi State University, Kabba, globally competitive, nationally respected, and locally relevant.
Prof Eniola said the management is committed to making the newly established institution a superior and preferred brand in the choice of University by staff and students.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for putting every requirement in place to ensure the smooth takeoff of the institution, adding that the visitor will grace the university’s maiden matriculation ceremony tomorrow.
He added that 25 academic programmes have been approved by the National University Commission (NUC).
The Vice Chancellor said plans are afoot to commence Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) and remedial programmes to create more opportunities for students to access university education.
He told newsmen that the management is working with some partners to provide affordable accommodation for the students, assuring that their security on campus is of utmost concern to the university authority.
