The management of Kogi State Traffic Management Agency (KOTRAMA) has promised to implement the new regulation regarding the movement of heavy-duty vehicles, including trailers, through Okene, Felele-Lokoja, and other adjoining communities.
In a statement signed by the Managing Director of KOTRAMA, Engr. Abdulrazaq Aminu, this move is in compliance with the directives of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Engr. Aminu said KOTRAMA, in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation, is set to ensure the absolute and effective implementation of this regulation.
“This regulation aims to prioritize the safety and well-being of our people in the state, particularly the affected communities, who have suffered irreparable losses due to the devastating impact of these heavy-duty vehicles.
“To minimize disruptions, specific hours between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am, may be allocated for the movement of heavy-duty vehicles through Edo-Okene Road, Okene-Kabba Road, and Okene-Lokoja-Abuja Road. Additionally, Height Restriction Barriers will be considered at some strategic points.
“The Kogi State Traffic Management Agency (KOTRAMA) will ensure full implementation of this regulation. Our office will work closely with the Office of the Commissioner of Transport to deploy trained manpower to enforce compliance,” he said.

He urged all stakeholders, including trailer operators and drivers, to cooperate with KOTRAMA to ensure a smooth implementation of the regulation upon commencement, as any heavy-duty vehicle found violating this regulation will be impounded.
