The Director General of the Kogi State Social Investment Programme Agency (KOSSIPA), Hajia Aishat Oyiza Omade, has once again demonstrated the agency’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable citizens through a timely intervention in support of an elderly woman in distress.

The intervention followed a viral video that surfaced online, showing the aged woman living in deplorable conditions without access to adequate food and medical care. Deeply moved by her situation, the agency swiftly mobilized efforts to locate her and provide immediate assistance.

During a visit to her residence, Hajiya Omade and her team spent time with the woman, offering emotional support and restoring hope.

As part of the intervention package, a sum of ₦1,000,000 was handed over to the APC Ward Chairman of Obehira Uvete 1 to facilitate the renovation of the woman’s dilapidated apartment, ensuring she can live in a safer and more dignified environment.

In addition, the beneficiary has been enrolled on a monthly stipend of ₦100,000 to cater for her feeding, healthcare, and general wellbeing. Her March stipend was paid instantly, alongside the distribution of food items and other essential supplies.

KOSSIPA also disclosed that its medical team will conduct regular health check-ups and provide continuous care to monitor her condition, while community stakeholders are being engaged to ensure sustained support and companionship.

In a further show of appreciation, the DG announced a full educational scholarship for the young girl who recorded and shared the viral video. The girl, who is preparing for her WAEC examinations and aspires to study Law, will benefit from the scholarship upon gaining admission, with coordination through the APC Obehira Uvete Ward Chairman.

Reaffirming the agency’s mission, Hajiya Omade stressed that no elderly person, child, or vulnerable individual should be neglected, noting that their sacrifices deserve dignity, care, and compassion.

She reiterated KOSSIPA’s unwavering commitment to restoring hope and improving lives through impactful humanitarian interventions across Kogi State and beyond.
