Former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has revealed that his decision to recontest the governorship seat of the State was not to witch hunt anyone.
He said no one had offended him in the state during his first tenure, saying he is also asking for forgiveness from whoever he had offended directly or indirectly during his tenure as governor.
Audu, who was governor of the state from January 1992 until November 1993 in the short-lived Third Republic and again from May 1999 to May 2003, stated this at the weekend at the Lokoja Township stadium.
Mr. Audu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was responding to women and youth under the aegis of Vision G63 Voice of the Grassroots, who in their thousands, begged him to return to Lugard House to rescue the state from economic quagmire and infrastructural decay.
The former governor, who assured the crowd that he had concluded consultations and was just waiting for the race to be formally declared open, said during his first tenure as governor of the state, civil servants received their salaries as and when due.
“Our lost glory would be restored if given the chance to govern again. I will create one million jobs for the teeming unemployed youths if given the mandate. The 12 years of PDP misrule will soon be a thing of the past. When I was governor of the state from 1999 to 2003, I did not owe civil servants and those retrenched now would return to work. Your days of suffering are numbered, I have done it before and I will do it again”, he said.
