In continuation in of the Kogi COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus (KogiCARES) through the Ministry of Youth Development and Sport, supported by the World Bank, the Kogi State Government has extended orientation of selected prospective beneficiaries to 3 other local government areas (LGAs) in Yagba federal constituency.
Recall that Kogi state government launched the Labour Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) on Friday, January 24 starting with Lokoja, Kogi and Ajaokuta LGAs.
The program which is gradually moving round all 21 LGAs in Kogi state has extended orientation of its proposed beneficiaries to Mopa Amuro, Yagba East and Yagba West LGAs under the leadership of Head of the LIPW Social Intervention program, Elder Oladipo Elkanah.
The enrollment exercise also captured about a 100 beneficiaries in Kabba Bunu local government area within the week.
Mr. Oloruntoba Samson, the Head Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit earlier in an interview had explained the protocol of work for the beneficiaries, saying they have to work 3 to 4 hours daily to earn the stipends.
Also, the Gender Officer representative, Latifah Jimoh said the program embraced not less than 60% women and about 40% men as women are the most vulnerable.
The program which ensured seamless enrollment of the beneficiaries in Mopa Amuro, Yagba East and West enjoys overwhelming support and endorsement of the people of Yagba Land in totality.
The beneficiaries are scheduled to be under the supervision of the Communities Development Officers (CDOs) of the local government areas.
