The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Adavi local government area  of Kogi state, has implored Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to stop the  administrator, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami from alleged sales of the council’s assets to his cronies.

The youth council, in a petition signed by the secretary of the youth council, Abdullahi Suleiman, noted that the allegation was  confirmed from office of the Director of  Local Government Administration (DLG) that the administrator had failed to append his signature on the agreement document between the council and the buyers.

He explained that the farming ploughs supplied by the State Government for youth empowerment were also carted away by the administrator at night for sale to Hausa/Fulani buyers.

He  also alleged that some of the local government vehicles recently repaired by the State with millions of naira were on the list of properties the embattled council boss was planning to auction to himself and his cronies.

“The generating plant purchased by the previous administration were moved to unknown destination under his directive. 90% of the motorcycles purchased by the State for the local government staff have been sold even as deductions for them are being made from staff salaries. We have carried out  investigation into the allegation and we found them to be incontrovertible. The officers directly in charge of the stock and inventories confirmed our findings.”

He stated that his group had also intimated the Ohi of Adavi and the Divisional Police Officer of Adavi  LGA to ensure that the matters do not get to a head.

He added that some people in the Council have framed him to be plotting for the fall of APC and the Administrator stating that at due course their false accusation will be exposed.

He urged the governor to set up a committee of enquiry to unravel the mystery behind the sale of serviceable assets of the Council to his cronies.

When contacted, the administrator described the call by the youth group as baseless and meaningless.
