In what appears to be like nemesis has caught up with the Kogi State Government, the state workers Attendance Clocking Machine, ACM, installed by Governor Yahaya Bello has failed to perform for the payment of the civil servants January 2018 salaries.
Inside sources revealed that the machines which the state government relied upon for the payment of January 2018 workers salaries malfunctioned as all read zero attendance.
With this development, the governors plan to pay salaries based on the reading may have hit the rock as the inadequacy of the clock-in and clock-out machine may no longer be realistic.
Sources hinted that since the introduction of the Electronic Attendance Machines by the state government, it has been a case of one challenge or the other.
While many within the government cycle have advocated the discarding of the machine, available evidences point to the fact that some persons are feeding fat from the contract of supplying and maintenance of the devices.
Recall that last year, the Kogi State Government introduced the electronic attendance machine also known as clocking system to pay civil servants’ salaries in the state.
The Government said the system would be used to checkmate the activities of the workers.
The new system includes workers clocking in between 7.30 and 8am for resumption, 12pm for break and 4pm for closure, during working days. It is also used to determine the regularity of workers at work in a month.
The machines, which have the workers’ bio-data, were installed in all the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs). The machines, according to the State Government, are to be controlled from the office of the Accountant General of the state for computing individual salaries.
When the satanic finger capturing system was introduced, some civil servants condemned the new clocking system, which they said would further impoverish them with the recent introduction of 50% salary payment by the state government.
