Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has described the remarkable education achievements of the Governor Usman Ododo-led administration as deliberate, strategic, transformative, and people-oriented.
Speaking at the Kogi West Leadership/Political Summit 2025 in Kabba on Monday, Hon. Jones emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to building a robust and inclusive education sector that serves the needs of the people.
He said Kogi state government’s commitment to education is evident through strategic planning, legislation, and significant funding allocations to the sector.
“The three key pillars of planning, legislation, and funding have driven progress across all levels of education in the State.
“Major achievements in Kogi West include the implementation of the Free Education Policy, massive renovation and modernization of school structures, continuous teacher training, and improved staff welfare. The government’s AGILE intervention program is also making a significant impact, building new, modern schools in every local government area in Kogi West to expand access and establish centers of excellence.
“Tertiary education in Kogi West has also seen significant improvements, with investments in institutions like Kogi State University in Kabba and the College of Education in Mopa. The relocation of the College of Education to its permanent site has opened new opportunities for teacher education and technical training in the region,” he said.
The Commissioner said government’s investments in infrastructure, security, and facilities for tertiary institutions has created safe, modern, and conducive learning environments for students in Kogi West.
He noted that through deliberate investments and strategic planning, Kogi West is rapidly becoming an educational powerhouse, with model schools and thriving tertiary institutions that are setting the standard for education in the region.
Hon. Wemi Jones thanked Governor Ododo for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening education across Kogi State.
“The achievements in Kogi West are a testament to the government’s dedication to building a future-ready, inclusive, and equitable education system that benefits all residents of the State,” he added.
