Kogi West senatorial hopeful, Hon Sunday Karimi has pledged his continued support for the growth and development of women.
Hon Karimi made the commitment at the fund raising by a group, Kogi Arewa Women in Action, to support of girl child education in Lokoja on Monday.
Represented by his personal aide, Sanjo Orebiyi, Karimi made a cash donation of three hundred thousand Naira to the course of the association and promised that he is prepared to do more for the women association going forward.
Orebiyi, who spoke at the occasion on behalf of his principal, disclosed that the two terms House of Representatives member from Yagba federal constituency is so passionate about women emancipation and empowerment, as well as the educational development of the girl child.
He added that Karimi is ever ready to contribute his quota for their wellbeing.
While speaking the chairperson of the association, Hajia Usman Nafisat Larei, thanked Karimi for the kind donation, adding that they least expected that he would do that much for their program because of the short notice.
Larei promised that her association would work with other women groups in the state to reciprocate the kind gesture of Karimi through their support and votes for his senatorial ambition.
Also speaking at the event, the state commissioner for women affairs and social development, Hajia Fatima Kabiru Buba commended the association for the initiative and thanked Sunday Karimi for his magnanimity.
High point of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to Hon Sunday Karimi.
