Ebira communities and associations in Lokoja, on Sunday, endorsed the senatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kogi West, Dele Bello-Williams.

The Lokoja Ebira Residents (LER), at a grand ceremony held at Kewon Hotel, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, argued that Bello-Williams remains the best candidate for Kogi West senatorial district considering his track record works in the community and private sectors.

The Ebira communities were extremely happy that Dele Bello-Williams was the first politician in the state to visit them at this dispensation and granted him a very warm reception.

According to the leader of the groups, John Momoh, they promised not to forget the respect showed to the community and promised to return the good gestures.

At the event attended by the representatives of the youths, and women groups as well as other supporters, the leader, Lokoja Ebira Residents in his opening remarks, explained that the group is an umbrella body for all Ebiras.

He clarified that LER is not a political party but a platform to promote and protect the interest of the Ebiras.

He advocated for the promotion of Ebira culture and virtues.

“Voters in Kogi West are tired of rotating senatorial seat between Sen. Smart Adeyemi and Sen. Dino Melaye, and are ready to try a new candidate this time”, he said.

Momoh also urged the Ebira residents in Lokoja to take serious the Dele Bello-Williams project, assuring that with him, Kogi West would fare better at the National Assembly.

He further hinted that the group have collectively and unanimously endorsed Dele Bello-Williams as its best choice for the senatorial seat in the coming February 2023 elections.

According to him, the LER believes that Dele Bello-Williams will win the election, adding that his coming will change the narrative in Kogi West senatorial district.

He mentioned further that the LER are very impressed with feats of his party, the African Democratic Congress in Okun land, ably led by Elder Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Consituency at the House of Representatives.

We are aware that the party, ADC recently spent in excess of 125 million naira towards payment of WAEC fees for all SS3 students in Okunland.

Momoh therefore called for the extension of the scholarship programme to Lokoja/Koto Federal Constituency as soon as Dele Bello-Williams is elected into the senate.

He used the occasion to also appeal to other Ebira groups who are yet to key into Dele Bello-Williams project to do so and commence full-scale mobilisation ahead of the 2023 polls .

He further confirmed that “LER would rally round Dele Bello-Williams. “The purpose of this endorsement is to mobilize for him to ensure his victory at the poll”, he stressed.

In his response, the Senatorial Candidate, Dele Bello-Willams commended Lokoja Ebira Residents(LER) for the endorsement adding that many other ethnic groups in kogi west are also behind him.

“When we do our civic duties through ballot, and we put in the Senate, a Senator that listens and cares about our people, then the positive changes we have been praying for will become a reality,” Bello-Williams stressed.

He enjoined all residents of Kogi West with a PVC to come out and vote massively for African Democratic Congress (ADC) on February 25th.
