Dr. Toyin Akanle, a senatorial aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), has debunks rumours making rounds that he has perfected plans to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a press statement, the Director General Akanle Campaign Organization, Prince Dayo Akanmode stated that Dr. Akanle remains the aspirant to beat in the forthcoming APC primaries and general elections.
“The attention of Akanle Campaign Organization is drawn to malicious and unfounded rumours going round over the aspirations of our principal, Dr Williams Toyin Akanle. It has come to our knowledge that some aspirants and their paid agents are peddling malicious rumours that Dr Toyin Akanle has defected from APC to PDP.
“This unfounded rumours spread by anti-democratic forces is not only false but a lie from the pit of hell.
“As a foundation member of APC, Akanle more than any qspirant jostling round now has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the party in the state and the country at large. As a matter of fact, he has also added colour and credibility to the party.
“The story is not only false but its an unfounded lie from unserious minded politicians waiting for a free ride: they are afraid of the  rising profile of Dr Akanle who still remain the aspirant to beat.
“It is evident that Dr Toyin Akanle has more than any aspirant has put in alot  of human and financial resources to this current effort.
“It is on record that Dr Akanle remains the only aspirant to have visited the nooks and crannies of Kogi West while some other aspirants have not visited any party member nor print a single poster, yet they are afraid of a free contest and have resulted to cheap blackmail and character assassination.
“Akanle has embraced all democratic tenets and remain a team player who will not take any step without adequate consultation with his teaming supporters and admirers. We appeal to our supporters all over, especially Kogi West not to be swayed by antics of rumour mongers and hypocritical mockers. We also seize this opportunity to appeal to delegates to the party  primary elections to remain calm in the face of this latest diversionary tactics and wicked permutations by anti-democratic forces aimed at discouraging our numerous supporters.
“Dr. Williams Toyin Akanle is still in the race as no amount of propaganda would deter him from saving our people from the hands of reactionary forces,” he said.
