Supporters of Hon. James Faleke in Kogi State have announced their endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Steve Sunday Karimi for re-election, describing the decision as a calculated and strategic move in the ongoing struggle for power equity and inclusive governance in the state.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued by Pastor Stanley Omoniyi Ajileye, who spoke on behalf of the Faleke-aligned political platform.
He said the decision followed a careful assessment of the national electoral timetable, which shows that the Presidential and National Assembly primaries are less than two months away.
According to the group, the current phase of the political process is critical and requires focus and discipline. While acknowledging that the Kogi State governorship election is slated for November 2027, the supporters stressed that attention must, for now, be firmly fixed on the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
They explained that their support for President Tinubu is rooted in considerations of political stability, national leverage, and continuity at the centre. The group argued that a responsive federal leadership would enhance Kogi West’s relevance and bargaining strength, creating a favourable atmosphere for advancing legitimate demands for equity and justice in the state.
The statement also highlighted Senator Karimi’s role as a central figure in the power equity struggle, describing him as the boldest and most consistent advocate of power rotation for Kogi West. His re-election, the group said, would further strengthen the zone’s voice in the National Assembly and reinforce its political and moral case for inclusion.
The supporters emphasized that backing Tinubu and Karimi should not be interpreted as an abandonment of the Kogi West governorship aspiration. Rather, they described it as a strategic sequencing of priorities, warning that premature diversion of attention to the governorship race could weaken collective influence at this stage.
They disclosed that advocacy for the Kogi West governorship would resume immediately after the presidential election, beginning from January 17, 2027, when sufficient political capital and alliances would have been consolidated.
To this end, the group announced the creation of a temporary mobilisation platform dedicated to the Tinubu–Karimi re-election project, calling on members and sympathizers to close ranks, mobilize at the grassroots, and campaign with unity and purpose.
“The struggle continues, guided by wisdom, strengthened by strategy, and sustained by unity,” the statement concluded.
