- Urge PDP to embrace youth inclusiveness.
By Nana Muhammad.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State chapter, has thrown her weight behind the candidature of Opeyemi Duke to fill in the vacant zonal chairmanship position in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement personally signed by the chairman of the council, Comrade Isreal Alonge and made available to press men in Lokoja on Thursday, he said though the council is apolitical, they are strongly interested in youths attaining leadership position and will support any youth who aspire to lead.
Comrade Alonge admonished the PDP to emulate the ruling APC in Kogi state which has given the youths some sensitive responsibilities, both in government and the party leadership.
He said the PDP must clean itself of the branding of been an old people’s party by encouraging and supporting the younger elements especially those who have demonstrated unalloyed loyalty to the party to attain leadership.
He therefore directed all the local government coordinators in the 7 local government areas in Kogi West to meet with all the relevant stakeholders across party lines to encourage youth participation in politics and rally support for Honourable Opeyemi Duke.
