The Director General Akanle Campaign Organization, Prince Dayo Akanmode has described the All Progressive Congress (APC) Kogi West senatorial primary election as a daylight robbery.
In a press Statement issued by the organization and made available to journalists, Akanmode explained that what happened in Kabba, the venue of the Senatorial primary, can best be described as ‘abracadabra’.
“Wonders shall never end. When the senatorial election for Kogi West APC was postponed from yesterday, 2nd of October to today, 3rd of October 2018, we thought the party is serious to conduct a free and fair election. The first sign of unseriousness we noticed was the decision of the party to hold accreditation in one place and hold the election at another point.
“At 5 pm, we were at the accreditation centre but there was no preparation only to get information again that the officials were at a particular hotel. On getting there, one of the aspirants, Dr Toyin Akanle mni was prevented from entering. Whereas aspirants should have all information, none was provided.
“Accreditation was not done only to get information that they were at an event centre where Dr Toyin Akanle was almost prevented from entering. No party member knows what was happening. Voting has started with three other aspirants walking out. What an Abracadabra! The more you see the less you understand. What a democracy with all the implications,” he said.
Akanmode appealed to the National Working Committee of the party to cancel the sham primary in the interest of Democracy.
“For the party to sustain its reputation, we therefore appeal to the NWC of our party to cancel the primary election because no election was held,” he added.
