Kogi West 2019: PDP Denies Giving Automatic Senate Ticket to Melaye

The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it has not been directed to grant the automatic ticket to any individual has been rumoured in certain quarters.

The party in a statement signed by the director of research and documentation, Achadu Dickson, described as false and misleading such information, called on its members to disregard the rumour.

While the party admitted that it was already receiving into its fold some members who left the party and new members who are defecting, it, however, said there was no such directive from the national body for an automatic ticket to any aspirant.

The party described the rumours as work of mischief makers aimed at causing crisis among its members.

The PDP in Kogi state said although it was happy to welcome new members to its fold, all it candidates would emerge through a free, fair and transparent primary.

The party called on members to disregard the information making the round about an imaginary automatic ticket, saying mischief makers have seen that the future of the PDP both at the national and in Kogi state is bright and would take over the government in 2019 is leaving nothing to chance towards creating disaffection amongst its members.

 

It tasked it’s members not to lose sleep over the unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours aimed to create disaffection amongst its members.

 

It would be recalled that there had been growing agitation over the alleged plan to give the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, who has indicated his plan to return to the party an automatic ticket to contest the seat in 2019.
