Mohammed Ibrahim Idris, a member of the House of Representatives, has passed a verdict that Kogi State, under Governor Idris Wada, is not working.
Going by his assertions, trouble may be in the offing for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, as the relationship between Governor Idris Wada and his political godfather, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, may have turned sour.
The lawmaker’s father and immediate past governor of the state sponsored Wada in the December 2011 governorship poll to the consternation of many, who were taken aback over a last minute decision to deny the initially favoured Alhaji Jibrin Isa (Echocho) the opportunity to vie for the seat on the platform of the PDP.
The lawmaker claimed that Wada has failed to live up to the expectation of the people, adding that if the situation was not reversed, the governor would surely face a Herculean task in retaining his position in 2015, saying though that it would not affect the fortunes of the PDP in 2015.
He noted: “The government of Kogi is not working in line with the aspirations of our people. Poverty is too high in my place, although the governor is from my party. Time would tell what would happen.
“All the same, we are still in PDP and Kogi would remain a PDP state. The APC cannot constitute a threat to the PDP, but there would be change within the government structure, by the grace of God. I cannot say my dad made a mistake.”
When asked what would be the fate of troubled PDP ahead of the 2015 polls, he said: “PDP would come out of its present crises stronger. I am sure all the governors that defected to the APC would come back even before 2015 poll. Things would take shape.
