The Lokoja Local Government Chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on youths in the area to distant themselves from any politician bent on using them as thugs or agents of destruction.
The coordinator, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, who made the call in a press statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Yabagi Mohammed, described Monday, June 12 2017’s unfortunate incident that led to the death of a youth, as regretful.
According to Comrade Adamu, gone are the eras when youths allow themselves to be caught in the web of political skirmish, and enjoined them to remain steadfast in hardwork and dedication in whatever productive venture they are into.
“Those who have one legitimate business or any other thing doing should please take it seriously because the world we live in today does not look kindly at lazy young ones waiting on manna,” pointed out Comrade Adamu.
To him, it is high time the youths in the state began to think towards how best they can utilise the opportunities created through learning of vocations that would assist in making them self reliant, than making themselves available as tools of destruction.
In his own words: “It is highly unfortunate that youths in their prime had their lives cut short. We hope that this serves as a lesson to those who follow people with destructive tendencies.”
He therefore urged the security agencies to thoroughly investigate circumstances that led to the shooting that took place at the mainvgate of Kogi State Polytechnic and ascertain immediate and remote causes so as to bring perpetrators to book.
