Table Shakers Association of Nigeria (TSAN), Kogi State Chapter, calls for the immediate resignation of the State’s Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Mohammed Awwal.

TSAN, an online force, is an advocacy group focused on putting to check all the wrongs within the State and the country at large.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Chairman of the association, Salami Banjo, the TSAN members expressed dissatisfaction on how the transportation sector is being managed in the state. They blamed the level of decay on the Commissioner of Transport, Alhaji Mohammed Awwal who, they alleged, has chosen to take the current situation in the transport sector very lightly.

TSAN maintained that the commissioner should resign and give way to a more competent hand to do the job.

The major allegations leveled against the commissioner are high cost of transportation within the state and the neglected Kogi Ultra modern Park, along Okene-Abuja express way. The park, which was commissioned on January 20th, 2016 by Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State costs 1.6 Billion naira to construct and could hold over 500 vehicles at once, and a crowd of about 14,000 per day amounting to 3.5 million passengers per year.

This, according to TSAN, should be huge for boosting the state’s economy and also creates jobs for the youths.

“The current administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello has made a bold move, by renovating all parks within the state capital, but the State Ministry of Transport has failed at utilizing these facilities thereby putting the people through much hardship while on transit,” he said.

TSAN also maintained that “Alhaji Awwal could not achieve anything while heading the State Ministry of Information. So, less is expected of him. Kogi State is bordered to 10 different states, including the FCT, so the State should be experiencing a boom in the transport sector.”

TSAN declared Alhaji Mohammed Awwal as weak and incompetent to head the transport ministry.
