Commuters plying the Lokoja-Abuja highway are going through hellish time due to a road block mounted by truck drivers protesting against the alleged killing of a driver by officers of Kogi State Produce Task Force.

The ever busy was blocked since 1am on Wednesday after the unfortunate incidence that reportedly occurred around Jamata bridge.

As at 9am on Wednesday, no vehicle was allowed to pass the point where the truck driver was slain. The remains of the slain driver was left on the spot of the incidence while protesters blocked the highway with trucks and bonfire.

According to an eye witness, Suleiman Ibrahim, the unnamed slain driver was conveying beans in his truck when he was stopped by the task force member who charged him N2,000. The slain driver reportedly pleaded that he can only afford N1,000. Argument ensued and an officer of the task force allegedly hit the driver on the head with the plank they use to block roads. The nails on the plank reportedly sank into the driver’s skull and he died after the attack. Other drivers made to apprehend the task force officer but he was reportedly rescued from the mob by policemen.

As at press time, the road is still blocked as protesters demand the presence of Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
