The Kogi State Students in tertiary institutions across the federation on Friday in Lokoja, conducted a solidarity walk for Kogi Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, to register their unflinching support for the governor.
The exercise, which was organised by TEAM TROY in collaboration with the GYBST CORE and GEEMONY Global Cleaner, took off at Federal University Lokoja, transit Government House, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs and terminated at the CREST KARAOKE BAR.
The Leader of the Team, Comrade Moses Omeiza Audu (Troy), told newsmen that the solidarity walk was aimed at fostering unity between the students, engendering peace and to also register their absolute support for Gov. Bello and his New Direction Team.
Audu added that the solidarity walk, tagged: “ReKOGInisingStudents”, was an initiative to enhance understanding and ensure harmonious working relationship and friendship among Kogi State students in all the tertiary institutions across the federation.
“History has been made in Kogi State, today a team called ReKOGInisingStudents, led by my humble self had deem it fit to walk for GYB in solidarity for the good things he has been doing in our state.
“The governor has done a lot for students in the state which is the fact and the truth; you could see just some weeks ago, the governor gave out buses to various Students Unions in the state.
“In addition, we could see that this governor is focused on student and youth empowerment programmes, and uniting all the students from all tribes in the state together.
“We could see that the governor is ready to work with and for the students. He is a youthful leader that we all crave for, who really understand the terrain and the needs of the students.
“The governor has been living upto our expectations. He is a focused, strong and determined man, who has continued to maintain the standard in ReKOGInising the students in the state.
“ReKogiNising means Rebranding, Reforming and Reinstating Kogi Students to the next level and to a greater height”, Audu said.
According to Troy, before now Kogi Students have been divided along tribal, religious and ethnic sentiments, but GYB has been able to bring all of us together in harmony for the benefits of the state at large.
He, therefore commended the governor and his new direction team especially the Chief of Staff, Hon Edward David Onoja; Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Sadiq Ohere, and Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the governor, Alhaji Abdulmalik Suleiman, to mention but a few for their continuous support for Kogi students.
Troy also extended his gratitude to the management of GEEMONY Global Cleaners, for believing and supporting the agenda of taking Kogi students to the next level and to a greater height.
“By God’s grace, we will see Kogi students in the nearest future becoming great leaders, great entrepreneurs and great achievers.
“I am contesting for National NAKOSS President by God’s grace and we have a strong agenda for Kogi Students that will immensely impact their lives.
“We are bringing and uniting Kogi students together to see themselves first as Kogites before seeing themselves along religious and tribal or ethnic groups. We have gone round the universities and polytechnics for consultations with our students across Nigeria.
“We will improve the intellectual capacity of our students through programmes, seminars and training. Kogi is moving forward, we don’t want to be a salary civil servants state; we want to go beyond that because we are in the state that has the highest mineral deposits in Nigeria.
“We are appealing to all Kogi students to join hands in ReKOGInising our state to take Kogi to a higher level. We are building relationships within ourselves; we should see ourselves as one irrespective of tribe, religious or ethnic differences”, Audu said.
Audu, the student leader, who is also a Presidential Aspirant in 2018 National NAKOSS Election, urged the students to rally support for him so as to emerge victorious in the upcoming NAKOSS presidential election.
Speaking to the students at Government House, the Chief Security Officer to the governor, Alhaji Abdulmalik Suleiman, commended the students for the solidarity walk for the governor and promised to convey their message to the governor.
“I can see the expression of love that you people have displayed for the solidarity walk for GYB. We will inform His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of your coming.
“As students, who are also the youths are the major tools for development in any nation, be sure you maintain decorum and continue to be focused.
“I am aware you are presenting Troy to represent you in all your activities in the NAKOSS, so you have to do your best to ensure that he emerge as the President, because I can see lots of quality leadership in him.
“I think you have made the right choice, so you must do your best for him so that he can become your next president and for him to succeed, We will continue to do our best from our own side by giving all the necessary support that is needed,” Suleiman said.
The representative of GEEMONY Global Cleaner, also pledged the company’s support for the students.
