The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has warned Fulani herdsmen to desist from destroying farmlands or be ready to face the law for their action.
The Kogi State chapter of the group issued the warning in a communique circulated among media houses in Lokoja on Tuesday.
The communique which was the outcome of a one day stakeholders meeting of the association held on Oct. 16 at the state capital said it was wrong for herdsmen to herds their cattle into any farm.
It said that any cattle rearer that fails to heed the warning should be ready to face the full wrath of the law, the statement signed by the state Secretary of the association, Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed said.
The group gave kudos to security agencies in the state for their efforts at reducing crime rate but pleaded that they focus more attention on the Kogi East senatorial where they said that 31 of their members had been killed between January and October alone.
According to the communique, MACBAN called on the state government to incorporate its security wing into the Kogi State Vigilante Service to further strengthen the outfit.
It fighting crime was a collective responsibility of all in the society , calling on corporate organisations , community leaders, traditional rulers and well-meaning individuals to join the fight against crime in the state.
