House of Representatives of Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency election in 2019, Hon. Oyella Otitoju, has asserted that despite the setback at the tribunal, there is victory in sight for the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.

Speaking with our reporter on Thursday, Oyela said even though the recently delivered tribunal verdict was in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he foresees a turnaround for SDP and Ajaka at the Appeal Court.

He said the tribunal verdict on the 27th of May in Abuja does not represent the true wishes of the people, “knowing fully well that the good people of Kogi State overwhelmingly gave their massive votes to the SDP candidate on the 11th of November gubernatorial election.”

“Undoubtedly, the tribunal Judgement is a setback but the miscarriage of justice will be corrected at the Appeal Court and Supreme court with the rightful owner of the mandate, Muri Ajaka, sworn in as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State in no distant time.

Oyela commended Muri Ajaka and the legal team for their doggedness and courage to fight for reclaiming “the stolen mandate”.

“Though, justice may seems delayed at the moment, but we are sure it will definitely not be denied. Since we have dared to struggle for the reclaiming of our stolen mandate, we dare to win,” he added.

He urged party faithfuls to remain calm and be hopeful as victory lies ahead.
