Kogi State Government says its huge investment in youths and women empowerment is geared towards making them functional, productive and self reliant.
Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor, made the remarks at the distribution of motorcycles to youths in Okene Local Government Area by Alh Momoh Jimoh, Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, as part of his youths empowerment programme.
The State Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, described youth empowerment as a key component of the transformation agenda of the present administration in the state.
He said the premium placed on Youth empowerment by the administration is a recognition of the importance government attaches to the youths.
The State Governor, commended the speaker for his laudable initiatives to empower the youths, called on other politicians to emulate the good works of the speaker.
Capt Wada commended the peaceful environment being currently enjoyed by the people of the central senatorial district, urged the area not to allow self seeking politicians cause disharmony amongst them.
The Governor described Kogi Central District as presently one of the most united, called on other districts in the state to emulate the peace and development on going in the central district.
He called on politicians from the state to irrespective of misgivings put the interest of their people as a priority, adding that the peaceful nature of the state should be nurtured and flourish.
In his remarks, Momoh Jimoh Lawal, Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, called on the youths in the central senatorial district in the state to embrace peace and not to allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians.
The speaker said the empowerment was a fulfillment of his campaign promises aimed at redirecting the energies of the youths towards profitable ventures.
He called on government at all levels to invest heavily in the youths through human resource development,skill acquisition and vocational training to re-orientate and enhance the capacity of youths of Central senatorial district.
