The Kogi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to hold a state congress to elect new executive members, as announced in a statement by Comrade Usman Okai Austin, the head of media for the state congress.

The upcoming congress aims to fill vacant positions from the state chairmanship down to the youth leadership.

In the statement issued on Thursday, the party expressed its commitment to reclaiming power in Kogi State, positioning itself as a major political force and the leading opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP urged former members who left the party for various reasons to return and help build a consolidated opposition capable of holding the APC accountable for its perceived failures in addressing the needs of the people.

The congress, scheduled to hold in Lokoja on Saturday, August 31, will see the election of a new state chairman, deputy chairman, and vice chairpersons for the eastern, western, and central districts.

Additionally, delegates will elect new officials for key positions including the publicity secretary, organizing secretary, state youth leader, women leader, financial secretary, state auditor, and others.

The party anticipates participation from 2,895 delegates representing the 21 local government areas of the state, highlighting the significance of this congress in shaping the future of the PDP in Kogi State.
