The Kogi State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Hon. Ola Samuel, has strongly condemned the ongoing wave of brutal killings and insecurity in Egbe, his hometown in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
In a passionate appeal made public through his spokesperson, Emmanuel Idakwo, Hon. Samuel described the situation in Egbe as “tragic, alarming, and absolutely unacceptable.”
According to him, the activities of armed bandits have escalated to the point where residents can no longer sleep peacefully in their homes, and farmers have abandoned their farmlands out of fear for their lives.
“Just yesterday, three police officers and two local vigilantes were brutally murdered by these criminal elements,” Hon. Samuel stated. “Our people are living in fear and uncertainty. Nobody knows what will happen next, and that is no way for any human being to live.”
Hon. Samuel lamented the growing insecurity in the region, questioning how long innocent citizens must continue to suffer and die while authorities remain slow to act. He emphasized that the human cost of these attacks is devastating:
“How long will our people continue to live in fear because of the inhumane acts of killing in our land? Children are becoming orphans. Wives are being turned into widows. Our community is bleeding, and enough is enough.”
He called on the Federal Government, the Kogi State Government, and all security agencies to immediately intervene and restore law and order to Egbe. He stressed that the lives of his people must be protected and that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes must be brought to justice.
“We are demanding peace and security in Egbe. These killings must stop. The people of Egbe deserve to live without fear. The blood of our brothers and sisters must not be shed in vain,” he declared.
Hon. Ola Samuel concluded his statement with a patriotic call for unity and divine intervention:
“God bless Egbe, God bless Yagba West, God bless Kogi State, and God bless Nigeria.”
