The Kogi State Executive Council has approved a new health policy, called the Health Care Plus Services in the state’s health centres.
The Health Care Plus will be designed to provide a free and subsidized maternal and child health care service for citizens of the state.
The aim of the Health Care Plus Services is to drastically reduce maternal, child mortality and mobility rates.
Briefing journalist at the Government House at the end of the Executive Council Meeting, the State Commissioner for Health, Mr. Abdulkareem Asuku and the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mrs. Petra Akinti-Onyegbule said the pilot phase of the project will be designated at twelve (12) healthcare centres across the state where patients will pay 1,000 Naira premium and another 1,000 Naira at birth.
The Council is also said to have ordered the investigation of the contractor who abandoned the Takete-Ide road, adding that an appropriate action will be taken upon receipt and diligent study of the report.
