Kogi SSG Wins Global Award for Excellence

The Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, has been awarded the 2015 International Council for Distance Education (ICDE) Prize of Excellence for Lifelong Contribution to the field of open and distance education worldwide.

 

 

The award ceremony, which held at the ICDE 26th world conference in South Africa is to recognise Jegede’s lifelong achievements, which represent significant contributions to, and has greatly impacted on the international community in the area of open and distance education.

 

 

In an electronic mail sent to The Guardian, The Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Josiah Idowu-Fearon, described Jegede as a gift to Nigeria. “This Nigerian is a gift to us in our country and Africa. His award showcases Nigeria’s contribution to global educational development.”

 

 

According to the ICDE, “Prof. Jegede has also made remarkable tremendous contributions to the international community of open and distance education through exemplary leadership.”

 

ICDE is the leading global membership organisation for enhancing the quality of open, distance, flexible and online education, including e-learning.
