Kogi Speaker Visits NYSC Camp, Donates Foodstuff

Speaker of  Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mathew Kolawole has pledged to contribute his quota to the development of education in Nigeria.
Kolawole made this known when he visited the Kogi state permanent orientation camp of National Youth Service Corp(NYSC) in Asaya on Tuesday.
The Speaker donated food items to ensure improved welfare of the corp members deployed to Kogi state.
“As leaders who enjoy assisting the downtrodden, we cannot sleep over your plights in the camps especially as you’re deployed from Benue and Taraba states.
“These food items are just my token gesture to assist those who are in dire need of help in our state,” he said.
He said the visit was informed by his concern to their plight and to personally appraise the living conditions of the the youth corp members in Asaya orientation camp.
He appealed to  the corps members in the camp to remain peaceful at all times.
Items donated by the speaker include: Bags of rice, jerry cans of cooking oil, some tubers of yam, cows and cash with a promise to sponsor some of the activities in the Asanya camp.
Receiving the items, chairman of the camp, Mr Hamman Bukar thanked the Speaker for coming to the aid of the corp members.
He  appealed to the speaker on the need to provide basic amenities such as water, hospital and school in the orientation camp.
“The absence of this basic needs is seriously affecting our work. You can assist by making funds available through the executive,” he appealed.
The NYSC Batch B, Stream 2, corps members were deployed from Benue and Taraba states to camp in Kogi state due to the insecurity in the affected states.
