Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt  Hon. Matthew Kolawole has congratulated Muslim faithfuls in Kogi State for the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi in Lokoja on Sunday, the Speaker said the celebration of this year Eid El Fitr has come at a very challenging time due to the outbreak of the deadly pandemic that is changing the world order, urging Muslims to continue to observe the health protocols of WHO and NCDC during the celebrations.

Kolawole noted that it was unthinkable that the virus would restrict adherents to their homes especially during the Eid El Fitr celebration which is normally observed in a community prayer ground with thousands of believing men, women and children  in attendance.

The Speaker, however, urged Muslims to enjoy the festival at home with their loved ones and enjoy sumptuous meals which usually characterize such an occasion.

He called on Nigerians to use the period of Eid El Fitr celebration to pray for an end to Coronavirus in the world and for the nation to get it right in terms of leadership and governance.

He charged Muslims to continue to uphold the teachings of Ramadan among which are attaining piety, seeking nearness to Allah, cultivating good manners, abstaining from vices, showing love and giving in charity, reading the Quran among others.

He said staying at home to celebrate this year’s Eid El Fitr will help to protect friends and family from contacting coronavirus (COVID-19), urging them to continue to observe social distancing, wash of hands regularly, use hand sanitizer and personal hygiene already achieved throughout Ramadan should be sustained.
