Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole has charged Nigerian youths not to involve themselves in election violence.
Rt Hon Kolawole gave the charge in Lokoja at the 2019 Face of Xera magazine beauty pageant organised by Xera Magazine Nigeria.
The Speaker who was honored at the occasion with the 2019 Humanitarian Award, commended the organiser for the honor done him.
According to him, since he cannot use any of his children for political thuggery, he advised the youths not to make themselves available to be used by politicians for thuggery and hooliganism before, during and after the elections.
He warned that, there is an existing law in the state that prohibits thuggery, hooliganism and other social vices with caught offenders risking 3 years in jail, urging them to stay out of trouble as the elections approaches.
He admonished the youths to strive hard to be the best in whatever good thing they find doing, stressing that Sarah Yusuf; the CEO of the company has really inspired him considering when she started and now.
He noted that it is good for the youths to develop their talents as that will go a long way to help them in life, pointing out that for more than fifteen years, he has been running a business in Lokoja which has really helped him.
He promised to continue to support youths that are ready to engage in meaningful venture that will contribute positively to the overall development of the state.
