The Director-General of the Kogi State Social Investment Programmes Agency (KOSSIPA), Haj Aishat Oyiza Omade joined a high-powered delegation led by the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Dr. Tambo Yusuf Sununu, on an official visit to the Istanbul Governorship Provincial Population and Citizenship Directorate (Civil Registration & Citizenship Office) in Istanbul, Turkey.
The delegation which included the State Coordinator of KOSSIPA, the Kogi State Programme Manager for Cash Transfer, as well as Cash Transfer Programme Managers from other States and delegates from the National Cash Transfer Office.
The team was warmly received by the Director of the Directorate, who represented the Turkish Minister for Interior. In her welcome remarks, she provided an overview of the Directorate’s mandate and highlighted the Ministry’s role in managing civil registration and citizenship services across Turkey.
Key focus areas of the visit included: Utilization of biometric ID systems and national registration for social protection targeting, Data sharing protocols with social protection agencies via the e-Devlet (e-Government) platform, the Directorate’s role in updating and maintaining the national civil registry for eligibility verification, Integration of digital identity systems with payment and case management platforms as well as legal and administrative frameworks for data privacy and protection within social registries.
The visit underscored the commitment of the Kogi state and Nigerian delegation to enhance transparency, coordination, and efficiency in social protection systems through global learning and strategic partnerships.
