Governor Yahaya Bello, has been urged to call the chairman of staff auditing in Kogi State, Brigadier General Paul Olusola Okuntimo to order to avoid causing unnecessary tension in the state.

The state Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC chairman, Comrade Onu Edoka, who dropped this hint yesterday at a press briefing in Lokoja added that the chairman of the staff verification panel has further worsened the workers’ plight in the state by trying to set them (workers) against the labour leaders.

“Saying that micro-finance bank without a BVN and workers opening account outside their local government of origin was a fraud is an attempt by General Okuntimo to set a wrong precedence for workers and government in the state and draw the hand of the clock backward.”

Edoka flank by some members of labour executives in the state explained that Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State should as a matter of urgency disregard the claims by the chairman of the verification exercise as reports have found him wanting.

“If Bello wants to go by Okuntimo’s report without recourse to proper verification, he should be prepared to pick corpse of workers from the streets of Lokoja, because the workers will not watch the injustice meted to them by the exercise.” He added that  those the bailout was meant to serve have been screened out.
