The problem with governance in Nigeria is that, every new leader takes the people back to zero level and starts afresh making innocent populace who voted them in to continue to suffer untold hardship.
The emergence of Yahaya Bello as the executive Governor of Kogi State has been greeted with controversy in every of its stages. Ranging from the death of Audu, his replacement as the party candidate in the supplementary election, his inheritance of vote which is against the Constitution of the country, his swearing in without a Deputy which is also alien to the Constitution. This hurdles he passed because he has the backing of the power That be.
Bello’s policies since assuming office has been haggard, scraggy, disappointing and glaringly showing a man who was never ready to govern but an opportunist who knows nothing about governance.
Bello who rushed into making promise to pay workers salaries on every 25 days of the month without studying the resources available to the state has only been able to pay October salary using his controversial screening as the excuse for not paying further, leaving workers to continue suffering untold hardship even though there is no hope for some of them because of Bello’s plan to deliberately reduce the workforce of the state by calling them ghost workers.
Government is a continuum. That’s what we were meant to understand. but kogi state uses the policy of start-afresh whenever there is a new government.
What happened to all the past verifications? if those ones were unable to pin-point ghost workers then which one will? How do you expect a child to excel if you keep carrying him or her back to kingdergarten every four years? I believe there are records of the past verifications in the government archive that Bello can pick and just implement, instead of wasting tax payers money to conduct a fresh screening that will lead to retrenchment of real workers.
Progress keeps dwindling because of this lapses, no proper records, nobody has ever been prohibited or prosecuted for recruiting ghost workers and I believe Bello will still not prosecute anyone because his primary aim is not to prosecute but to reduced workers by all means necessary.
May God open the eyes of our leaders to see the suffering of the people and give them the right approach to solving problems. Henceforth.
Our leaders should undergo these two vital psychological tests to prove them competent enough to lead us.
1. CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY
2. PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY. Enough is enough of unnessary delay of positive actions. our leaders ought to be proactive.
God bless Kogi state
God bless Nigeria
