The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Sanusi Salihu Avidime, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening academic excellence, institutional development and inclusive leadership in the institution.
Addressing the Polytechnic Assembly in Lokoja on Friday, Prof. Avidime noted that the institution has built a strong reputation for academic excellence, technical innovation and community impact, assuring the staff of his resolve to build upon the achievements established by his predecessors.
The Rector outlined key priorities of his administration to include strengthening academic standards, promoting research and practical innovation, improving staff welfare, and fostering a learning environment that equips students with both character and professional competence.
According to a statement by the Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Uredo Omale, the Polytechnic Assembly formed part of the Rector’s ongoing familiarisation engagements with staff of the institution on the Lokoja campus, following earlier meetings with members of management and the academic board.
Prof. Avidime expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as both an honour and a responsibility he would discharge with integrity, transparency and dedication.

He pledged to maintain inclusive leadership and open communication with staff, acknowledging their experience and commitment as vital to the Polytechnic’s continued growth.
Prof. Avidime also reassured the Polytechnic Assembly of management’s determination to provide quality education, relevant skills and adequate support systems necessary to prepare students for global competitiveness.
He further emphasised the importance of discipline, accountability, infrastructural development and strategic industry partnerships in positioning the Polytechnic among leading institutions in Nigeria and beyond.
Calling for unity and collective responsibility, the Rector urged all stakeholders to work together in advancing the institution’s mandate, stressing that shared commitment would drive sustainable progress and institutional pride.
