Kogi Poly Rector Charges Academic Staff on More research, Advanced Studies

Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman has charged members of academic staff on the need to pursue further knowledge and research with greater vigor towards improving the overall quality of education in the Polytechnic.

Dr. Usman made the call during an SMS Downtime organized by School of Management Studies of the Polytechnic held at the Hall ‘A ’of the main campus on Thursday.

Dr. Usman who commended the leadership of the school for sustaining the program noted that the ‘downtime’ would aid the management to review and appraise their performances in the sessions under review.

Whilst reiterating the management zeal to continue to encourage academic excellence and hard work, Dr. Usman charged the gathering to show commitment to duties at all time.

Dr. Usman highlighted the importance of publications for academic staff, drawing from his own personal experiences adding that the act of publishing one’s work is not only essential for career advancement, but also for expanding the body of knowledge in one’s field.

He noted that the process of publishing research can be incredibly rewarding, as it gives individuals the opportunity to share their findings with the world and make a meaningful contribution to society.

Earlier, Dean, School of Management Studies, Dr. (Mrs) Ruth Haruna who appreciated the Heads of Departments for their supports in reviving the program noted that the ‘Downtime’ was aimed at refreshing the minds of members of the School and restrategizing on the task ahead.

Dr. (Mrs) Haruna used the occasion to commend members of staff who have distinguished themselves and charged those lagging behind to stir up especially in developing themselves academically.

She also appreciated the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Usman for his immeasurable support and encouragement to the School and also his intervention to make the Polytechnic an envy of other institutions.

Equally at the event, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman was honored with an award as ‘Best Performing Rector in the history of Kogi State Polytechnic’ in recognition of his outstanding performance in the area of administrative acumen, human and infrastructural development, digital revolution, security and accreditation of courses at the Polytechnic.

Among other members of School of Management Studies that were honored with awards were retirees and those that bagged additional academic qualifications in PhD and Masters levels between year 2020 and 2024.

Notable management members of the Polytechnic graced the occasion which has been promised to be an annual event.
