The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijumu wishes to call on the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State to begin investigation into the activities of the Sole Administrator of Ijumu Local Government and his criminally minded errand boys under the name “Ijumu Youth Network”.
Reliable information at our disposal has it that the Administrator has recruited the boys, led by one Adewale Olaitan, to do the dirty works for APC before, during and after the November 16 gubernatorial election.
Some of the tasks given to the faceless group include instigating arrest and incarceration or outright kidnap of strong members of PDP in order to destabilize our party before next Saturday’s election.
Information reaching us has it that, apart from Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye and his key supporters in Aiyetoro Gbede, whose arrest were being plotted since last week, the list has now been expanded to include notable members of PDP across the length and breadth of Ijumu including the Chairman, publicity Committee of our campaign council in Ijumu, Pastor Stanley Ajileye whose kidnap was ordered by Taofik and his team.
We wish to state clearly that this sinister motive is aimed at undermining Saturday’s election by causing unnecessary chaos.
Our sources revealed that 16 members of PDP are listed to be kidnapped between November 13 and 16, if efforts at getting the police to arrest and detain them fail.
As a party that believed in the rule of law, we are calling on the police to take up this matter and see to it that none of our members is disenfranchised through the hatchet work of this overzealous Administrator.
As a party, we also want the police to reassure us of the safety and security of our party members and supporters. We can not afford not to take these threat information seriously knowing the antecedent of Taofik Isa, who personally led the same group of boys to attempt a raid of a polling unit in Ekinrin Adde during the presidential election, shooting an innocent voter in the process.
Police should wade in fast.
Signed:
Pastor Stanley Ajileye
For: Wada/Aro Campaign Council (Ijumu)
