There is no need to entertain caution that Kogi State politics attracts national interest and observation. The Nigeria political history would not be complete without the mention of Kogi State. The politics in Kogi State is laced with distinct dynamics and intricacies. So, to play politics in Kogi State is not a child’s play and is far from being kindergarten or juvenile politicization.
The essence of politics anywhere on the surface of the earth is to pursue interest for societal development. Howbeit, the political permutations in Kogi State have been the one of ethnic, tribal, religion and zonal divides. It must be admitted that before the advent of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration, Kogi State was deeply and sharply politically polarized.
Kogi State then was in the hands of “selected few and enclosed cabals” and the State was governed like a “conquered garrison”.
It is a sad commentary that when a State is governed on the parochial indices of pedestal polarization, the State becomes socially, economically, developmentally and politically retarded. This is what happened in Kogi State and we are regretfully struggling with the consequences. More regrettably is the fact that some certain sons of Belial with political glaucoma are set to hatch the malodorous and distasteful element into the fabric politics of Kogi State through their misguided cry of ethnic “Agenda”.
This nefarious move is not limited to certain ethnic group alone. Albeit, promoted by some elements with jaundiced view about progressive politics and societal cohesion.
No progressive society governs through the prism of parochial engagement. The promoters of sectional agenda seek nothing but politics of disunity and political sectionalism. They do not care about the development of the State or seek for societal cohesion and “brotherhood”.
Their modus operandi is the instrumentality of disruption, civil unrest and corrupt manipulation of perfect storms.
You will discover how perfidious the sectional agenda criers are when you read between the lines of their reasons. I have never seen a needless quest in recent time.
It must be on record that with the kind of political cohesion and peaceful coexistence amongst various divides in Kogi State championed by Governor Yahaya Bello, the intention and movement of the agenda propaganda are dead on arrival. The political midwives have declared it “stillborn” and the political doctors have confirmed it dead.
Kogites are not going back to the dark days of ethic bitterness, tribal vindictiveness and sheer political ostracization. Kogites stand for Kogi agenda. It is that simple.
