Fake State Security Service (SSS) operative identified as Egah Yahaya John was yesterday paraded by the Kogi state police command.
The acting Police Commissioner Austin Ebvakhabokun said John who operates a recruitment syndicate was arrested while trying to dupe one Uche John. He said members of the syndicate had collected various sums of money ranging from N25, 000 to N50, 000 from unsuspecting members of the public on the pretext that they will help them secure jobs into the state security service and the police. Egah John who confessed to the crime while answering question from newsmen however blamed the devil for the crime.
The police also paraded four suspects who allegedly engaged in criminal conspiracy and armed robbery across the state.
The Police acting commissioner gave the names of the suspects as Ibrahim Aliyu, Nicolas Abulu, Lucky Abdullahi and Yakubu Alfa. He said Alfa escaped from Federal Prisons, Makurdi after he was convicted of criminal armed robbery.
The suspects would soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded, he said.
Items recovered from the suspects include two AK 47 rifles, 16 live ammunition of police uniforms, a police beret and belt, toy gun, ATM card and students ID cards.
