Kogi Police Kill Two Robbery Suspects, Arrest Four Others

Kogi State police command on Monday said it has arrested four suspected armed robbers in connection with last Friday’s First Bank robbery attack in Ajaokuta area of the state. State Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Augustin Evhakaivbokun, disclosed this while parading six robbery suspects and a 53-year-old father, who was having carnal knowledge of his two daughters.

Evhakaivbokun said at about 6.45pm, a gang of armed robbers invaded First Bank branch in Ajaokuta, shooting sporadically. He explained that the robbers blew off the electronic security door at the entrance with the aid of an Improvised Explosive Devised (IED).

He also said that the suspected robbers shot two security officers of the bank, one civilian and that one policeman on duty, Samuel Olaiya, was killed and his rifle was taken away with an unspecified amount of money.

The police boss added that when the DPO in the area got wind of the incident, he mobilised his men while the riot policeman on standby engaged the robbers in a shootout.

He said four were arrested while two of them, who sustained bullet wounds, died on the way to the hospital. The acting commissioner of police also paraded one Yinusa Kadiri, for allegedly snatching an unregistered Honda Accord car while in another operation; an armed robber was shot dead while exchanging fire with a police patrol team.

The suspects are Abdullahi Jimoh, Ahmed Rufai Audu, Musa Usman, Danladi Ocholi, Ismaila Suberu (deceased), Malik Ejema (deceased), Yinnusa Kadiri, Jafaru Haruna and Joseph Terlunum.
