Kogi Police Commissioner Tasks Banks on Installation, Maintenance of Effective CCTV System

Police Commissioner, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, has advised banks in the state on the importance of installing and maintaining effective CCTV system in and around banking premises to provide continuous monitoring.

He gave the advice during an engagement with Bankers’ Forum in Lokoja on Thursday, stressing the need for preventive measures against potential threats and ensure safety during the yuletide period.

As part of measures to strengthen security within and around banking premises, the meeting focuses on measures to ensure adequate security presence, and secure cash handling to ensure safety and prevent security breaches within the banking sector.

CP Dantawaye also provided avenues to review and improve existing security strategies to counter emerging security threats.

He further advised the forum against compromising the security in and around the banking sector. Emphasizing the need for adequate police escorts for cash -in- transit and a stronger police presence in banking areas.

He stressed on the need for deployment of armed security guards to patrol the bank premises, creating a strong visual deterrent against criminal activities.

The CP further urged for improved collaboration between the Police and the bankers forum to create a more secure financial environment.

The meeting had in attendance members of the command’s management team, and representative of bankers forum who represents the collective interest of the banking industry in the state.
