Prominent Kogi businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Idris Hussein Kashim, popularly known as Idris HK, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress.
The resignation was contained in a letter dated February 25, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the APC in Ajaka Ward I, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State, his country home.
In the letter, Idris HK expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC for the platform provided to contest the 2015 gubernatorial election. He also thanked party members at the ward level for the brotherhood, camaraderie, and friendship shared over the years. The philanthropist stated that he would unveil his new political platform in the coming days, signaling potential plans to pursue political ambitions in the 2027 general elections.
Ajogwu Jerry Ochada, spokesperson for the Idris HK Foundation, confirmed the development and noted that further details would be communicated in due course.
Idris HK, the CEO of Crush Café in Abuja and founder of the Idris HK Foundation, has built a strong reputation through consistent community interventions including boreholes, transformers, solar installations, JAMB sponsorships, free fuel for commercial motorcyclists, and cash relief programs across Kogi East, particularly in Igala land.
The resignation comes at a time of heightened political realignments in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 polls. Idris HK’s move has sparked speculation about his next political step, given his widespread goodwill among constituents in Igalamela/Odolu and beyond. No immediate response has been received from the APC leadership in Kogi State.
