Pensioners in Kogi State have rounded up a one week prayer and fasting session organised for the quick recovery of the State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, who is recuperating after an auto crash.
In a message at the occasion, Alhaji Ado Shuaibu, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Pension Matters, who represented Yomi Awoniyi, State Deputy Governor, said the initiative was informed by the positive disposition of the Governor towards pensioners in the state.
The State Pensioners, Alhaji Ado disclosed had a meeting with the Governor a day before his accident and felt touched over the accident as he was set to unveilĀ and implement several enhanced welfare packages for the state pensioners.
The prayers which the Special Adviser noted was aimed at speedy recovery,is to enable the Governor return to office and implement his laudable programs for the pensioners and the state in general.
In his speech, Onu Abdullahi, State Chairman Nigerian Union of Pensioners, said the Governor had since his assumption not only increased the monthly allocation, he has made promise to effect the yearly increase of 7.5%, pay all outstanding arrears and other entitlements to owed the State Pensioners.
The Chairman pointed out that the fasting and prayer session was the Unions way of thanking God for the survival and for his speedy recovery.
