The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called for a peaceful rerun elections scheduled for this week Saturday.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director Research and Documentation, Dickson Achadu, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure that the rescheduled election is credible and hitch-free.
The PDP in its statement said violence would be reduced to it’s bearest minimum if INEC ensures that election results in units where violence are deliberately caused is announced, disclosing that the Party is committed to a violence free poll for the East Senatorial as well as in Idah and Ofu State constituencies election .
The PDP called on its members to turnout in their numbers and vote for the party, also called on security agencies saddled with the monitoring and conduct of the election to live up to their responsibilities by ensuring a credible election devoid of violence.
While commending the effort so far put in place by INEC and the Security Agencies, the PDP urged its members to be law abiding and vigilant before, during and after the Saturdays rerun elections by ensuring that their votes count.
